A construction worker fell to his death while painting on the Manhattan Bridge Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The worker was painting something on the bridge around 1:50 p.m. when he plummeted to the ground at South Street and Pike Slip near FDR Drive, according to police.
It wasn’t clear whether he was using a safety harness, police said. The bridge’s lower level was closed to traffic, cops said
No further information was immediately available.

A construction worker who would only identify himself as John said he ran to the scene.
“I heard an ambulance and I seen a helicopter,” said the worker. “I came real quick. I’m nosy. I came here pretty much a couple of minutes after it happened. I seen him laying, I seen the blood and stuff. They covered him up, put a brick in it. I said a prayer for the guy. It’s sad.”
