Woman punched in the face, robbed on NYC subway train: cops

A stranger socked a woman in the face and robbed her on an Upper West Side train late Monday, police said.

The 23-year-old victim was on a northbound 3 train at West 72nd Street and Broadway around 9:40 p.m.. when a woman she did not know suddenly punched her in the face and grabbed her cell phone, authorities said.

The mugger then ran off through the train cars, and had not been caught by Tuesday morning, cops said.

The victim was not hospitalized, according to police.

Less than an hour later, a 20-year-old man was walking home at West 66th Street and West End Avenue, also on the Upper West Side, when another man approached and said, “I like your jacket,” cops said.

He then flashed a gun in his waistband, prompting the victim to hand over his jacket, cops said.

The thief took off and had not been caught by Monday morning.
